The CB&Q Freight House in Chariton has received a donation of $2,500 from Clarke Electric’s Operation Round Up fund. Funds will be used to complete exterior improvements.
Built in 1904, the freight house was used in that capacity up until the 1970s when it was abandoned. It sat empty for decades until a group of citizens took action in 2003 to restore and develop the property for the community. Since 2005, it has been run by the Lucas County Arts Council as an event space. Pictured above are Jenna Smith, left, and Mariah Pierschbacher.
