Court Blocks President’s Delay of Obama Methane Leak Rule
Judge Elizabeth Laporte of the District Court for the Northern District of California ruled the Trump administration broke the law when it tried to delay an Obama administration rule related to greenhouse gas released through oil and natural gas drilling. Laporte indicated that the Interior Department cannot use a provision in the Administrative Procedure Act to delay the rule on methane emissions on federal land.

Board Approves Rate Increase
No one likes a rate increase; not members, employees or the board of directors. Unfortunately, the costs to operate, maintain and upgrade our cooperative continue to increase.  


August 2017 Public Policy Update



FERC Nominees Confirmed by Senate
The U.S. Senate has unanimously confirmed two Republicans nominated by President Trump to serve on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The votes approving Senate aide Neil Chatterjee, formerly with NRECA, and Pennsylvania utility regulator Robert Powelson restore a voting quorum for FERC.

Federal Update
Senate Votes to Reconfirm Svinicki as NRC Chairman
The Senate confirmed the re-nomination of Kristine Svinicki as chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.  The confirmation preserves a quorum at the agency.

Operations Update


Clarke Electric right-of-way contractor, Coddingtons, is working in the Grand River substation area to continue the right of way clearing, removing trees, brush and overgrowth in, under and around the power lines. 

The cooperative's  linemen are working on faulty underground line replacement north of Williamson and removing idle services in the Medora substation. They will move to the Nevada Street road movin in Warren County in a few weeks.
